BTS ‘Bon Voyage’ season 4, episode 4: Winter in September

On BTS Bon Voyage season 4, episode 4, “Winter Finds Its Way in September,” the members settled in for the night before getting ready for a day full of hiking and camping!

In their new lodging, the members must decide where they will sleep, so they play the ladder game to pick rooms and beds. Jungkook makes the chart, like usual, and lists the members in order from oldest to youngest. This means that Jin goes first and also gets the private room. Everyone is shocked and devastated. They want to redo it, but Jin won’t let them and runs off to put his things away.

Yoongi also wants to know why he keeps getting roomed with Namjoon. Taehyung gets excited because he guessed right, but no one really listens except for Hobi.

They start to unpack all of their groceries and wash up while Yoongi takes care of cooking dinner for everyone. Jungkook sticks around to help him, cleaning up the food waste and getting the things he needs.

As the stew cooks, Jungkook and Hobi are excited by the delicious smells. Yoongi even has to divide the soup into two pots because he’s making so much for the members. While Yoongi finishes cooking, the vocal line gets silly and gasps in harmony.

Once the kimchi jjigae is finished cooking, Yoongi calls everyone to come eat. Jimin, Jin, and Namjoon are all busy blow drying their hair first. While they wait, Jungkook and Yoongi clear the table off so they can sit down.

When they finally start eating, everyone is complimentary of Chef Min and they also make some rice and ramyeon with the stew broth. But they also lament to not sticking with their diets on the trip, but that’s okay because it’s always good to see them eating as much as they want!

After dinner, they start to clean up all the messes they made, and that’s when Namjoon’s slipper breaks, causing confusion. Taehyung starts to clean the dishes himself but is worried when he finds out they forgot to buy gloves.

Jimin also wants to help wash the dishes, but Taehyung doesn’t seem to want to stop what he’s doing. He does complain that the sink is too low for his height, so Jin helps by rubbing/hitting his back to make it feel better.

When they’re free, Namjoon and Jimin take a break to go outside and look at the moon. We’re treated to some spontaneous poetry by Namjoon and a little bit by Jimin, who shly joins in with him. Later, Namjoon helps Hobi load up the camper with all the groceries they didn’t use. Hobi takes it upon himself to organize the camper better with all their things so it’s ready in the morning.

Because he didn’t get to shower earlier, Jungkook jumps in to wash up, but that ends up stealing all the hot water, which means Taehyung is washing dishes when his water turns cold and starts to freeze his hands. Luckily, Jungkook is quick to shower and Taehyung gets to finish up the dishes.

Since he can’t help Taehyung, Jimin makes hot tea for the others so they don’t get sick. He even brings some out to the camper for Hobi, who was still putting things away.

The members start to wind down for the night and get ready for bed. Yoongi folds his clothes, Jin goes to his room, Jungkook lays down and accidentally falls asleep, and Jimin puts out his gloves so they can dry. Meanwhile, Taehyung takes his tea and goes outside to see the moon himself.

In the morning, the members are woken up by their alarm. Namjoon wakes up first before Yoongi and Hobi join him. Then the leader has to go back and wake the others so they don’t sleep in. He takes Taehyung’s blanket, opens Jin’s door, and turns on the light in Jimin and Jungkook’s room to make sure they get up.

Everyone gathers outside in their warm clothes and does their new Bon Voyage chant before getting in their cars and hitting the road. Their first activity for the day is to head to the grocery store again! Yoongi heads straight to the meat section while the others look for more camping things.

There’s a lot of debate on what they actually need to buy. The trip is certainly more chaotic with all the members there wanting different things.

Spotting coffee, Hobi asks the other members if they want any. The coffee lovers get their caffeine while Taehyung heads outside to play on the zip line again. While he’s going across, the others spot him and go to join. Jungkook, Jimin, Namjoon, Hobi, and Jin end up going on the zip line, too. Jin ends up deciding to try the slide as well, but it’s not as easy as it looks.

With their energy spent, the members go back to the vehicles to head out. Yoongi and Jungkook are the ones driving again, while Namjoon rejoins the car team with Jin. They’re excited by the sight of a lake that they drive by thanks to New Zealand’s beautiful scenery.

After failing to get good pictures while driving, they decide to stop and check out the lake. Once they’re done taking pictures, they try to skip stones on the lake. Hoseok starts to film another CNS video by himself, but Taehyung and Jungkook join in, too.

Back in the car, Jin, Yoongi, and Namjoon sing their dinosaur song again. Jin tries to find a BTS song that will fit the sights and lands on “Spring Day,” which they all agree is perfect. They all really love the sights of New Zealand as they drive. Finally, they arrive at the mountain and all get out to check it out.

They’re ready to head out on their hike, but first they take a break to do their Bon Voyage chant. Without any more delay, they start the trail around the mountain. As they walk through the trail, they talk about the different animals that live on the mountain and some of them sing.

Yoongi keeps complaining about the others walking too slowly, and they tell him to slow down and enjoy the sights. They walk over a bridge and are amazed by the stream of water beneath them. The members really can’t get over all the beautiful views in the mountains, and it makes them think of their families too. Jin starts to run, and even though it confuses the others at first, Jimin and Yoongi join him.

When they get to the end of the trail, they’re amazed by the glaciers and all go to play in the snow. Jimin can’t seem to help himself and tests the coldness of the water with his hand. Namjoon helps him to cool down even more by sticking snow on his neck to get back at Jimin throwing snow at him earlier.

Of course, they also admire the view and take plenty of pictures. Before heading back, they stop to do their Bon Voyage chant again.

Once they’re back in their vehicles, Taehyung takes a turn driving the car while Namjoon and Yoongi nap in the back. On the drive to the campground, they spot some wild sheep, which makes the camper team excited. Yoongi starts to worry how they’ll put up the tent once they get to the campground. They’re confused to find a gate at the campsite, but Yoongi gets out and figures out how to open it.

The sun is already starting to go down as the members get out of their vehicles and start to set up everything they will need. They’re not very familiar with the gear, though, and aren’t even sure what everything is as they try to set it up. Yoongi starts putting some kind of table together while Jin tries to put the fire pit together and the maknaes work on the tent. There’s a lot of questions being thrown around and no one really knows what they’re doing.

Episode 3 – December 3

BTS ‘Bon Voyage’ season 4, episode 3: Just stars everywhere

BTS Bon Voyage season 4, episode 3, “The Stars are Shining for You” showed the members going on a morning walk, playing with sheep, star gazing, and lots of singing!

        With everyone finally ready to go, Bangtan heads out into the chilly morning for a hike together. Taehyung leads the group in their chant to keep the energy up as they walk up the mountain. It’s not long before they get silly and switch over to animal noises before coming up with an acoustic version of their Bon Voyage chant.

As the members make impromptu music on their journey, we’re treated to their laughter and joy which is the best thing of all! They take a break to capture the scenery with their phones, and Namjoon also manages to take a tumble on the trail. Before coming back together to capture a 360 video of their new acoustic Bon Voyage chant.

With the group split up on whether they should head back down or continue on, they decide to play a game of rock, paper, scissors – what else. Yoongi and Jimin end up losing and have to continue up the trail on their own while the others get to go back down and rest.

While Yoongi and Jimin continue their journey up the mountain, Hoseok treats the others to his special breakfast toast as they rest up. Which basically consists of putting everything on the plate (butter, jam, eggs, bacon) onto the toast and eating it all together. Jungkook joins them with a surprise, he styled his hair into pigtails!

There’s lots of excitement when Yoongi and Jimin arrive back at the lodging with snow to show off for their efforts. As they take off all their muddy clothes, Hoseok offers to make them his special toast too. He gets busy making it and by the time they’re inside he has it ready to refuel them back up from their walk.

Afterwards, they all start to pack up the camper and SUV to get ready to head off for the rest of their day. They do a little rearranging with the rides, Namjoon hops into the camper so Taehyung heads into the SUV with Jin and Yoongi.

At first, Jimin and Hoseok are quick to get into singing mode again. While Taehyung complains the SUV is too quiet as the hyungs say they’re tired. But once the music comes on in the SV they’re quick to get their energy back, starting up their karaoke with Taehyung this time. Yoongi plays their singing on the radio for the camper team to hear, who have calmed down since they were singing earlier. But the enthusiasm spreads as Jungkook and Namjoon sing along with the others on the radio.

They make a stop at a gas station to fill up but they can’t help but take time to shop when they notice a store is open there as well. They get even more hats, gloves, slippers, and even some pants to help them stay warm during the rest of their trip! Jungkook washes the camper up while the others are busy inside and even moves them out of the way. Hoseok ends up chasing after him as he attempts to get his wallet from the camper.

Jungkook follows Hoseok back inside and they all check out their new goodies before piling back into the vehicles. Once they’re back in the camper, Hoseok realizes that they accidentally bought two of the same things they didn’t need. He sweetly goes in by himself to handle returning it and Jin comes up with the idea to play a trick on him. With a bit of coaxing, Jin talks the others into driving away and making it look like they forgot him for their first Bon Voyage season 4 prank.

When Hobi finishes up inside the store he’s shocked to discover that they left him, he really can’t believe it. Once he calls Jimin to find out why they left it’s clear that he’s upset, asking how they could do this to him. Jimin can only laugh at Hoseok’s response to the trick while Jin circles back around to pick him up. It doesn’t take long for the others to let Hoseok know it was all Jin’s idea though.

Back on the road for real, the SUV is quiet as Yoongi takes

a nap. The camper, however, is sent into chaos as items keep nearly falling on top of them as they drive. Luckily, they all get to the café safe and sound for a nice meal together. They also get to enjoy playing with the sheep while they wait. Jungkook plays on the swing set, looking adorable with his hair tied away from his face in a little sprout.

Once their lunch arrives, everyone is quick to get back to the table and enjoy their meals. Meanwhile, they’re already thinking about dinner and what they’ll make. Of course they all want Chef Min to make something for dinner as has become tradition on Bon Voyage. But they decide to go grocery shopping again first so Jin, Yoongi, and Taehyung plan to go there together while the others rest.

There’s a funny moment between the oldest and youngest as Jin calls Jungkook over. Only to ask for help standing up from his seat, but Jungkook refuses to help at first. Simply giving Jin his hand but not pulling him up. Finally, he does help and Jin can go off to get into the SUV.

Then Jungkook gets Hoseok to go with him to practice driving the camper while they have some time. So far only Jungkook has been brave enough to drive the big vehicle on the road. Namjoon and Jimin visit the sheep some more and feed them.

At the grocery store, Yoongi focuses on getting all the food he’ll need to cook for the others. They also pick up some more stuff for their camping, though they seem a little unsure of exactly what they need for the fire. While Yoongi continues shopping, Taehyung teases Jin over his love for jellies as he tries to grab more. Jin returns the favor by teasing Taehyung over his unshaven face and tells him to buy razors.

The two troublemakers take the food out to the car while Yoongi finishes paying for everything. Then they get busy trying to fit all the stuff they bought into the car. By himself, Yoongi goes inside to return the cart and boxes they used. And the troublemakers decide to go try out the zip line beside the store. When Yoongi is back outside he tries to convince Taehyung and Jin to hurry up but ends up taking pictures of them playing on the zip line anyways.

Waiting for the others still, Hoseok gets the younger ones to play with flowers with him. He tries to make flower rings for Jimin after putting some in his own hair. Then manages to get one to stay in Jungkook’s luscious locks. Finally, they’re able to head out to meet with the others and Hoseok tries driving the camper on the roads for the first time. Jimin and Namjoon catch up on a little sleep in the meantime.

Taehyung and Jin snack on some mandarins while they wait for the camper team to show up, but not without some more teasing. They’re a little surprised to see Hoseok driving when they pull up, what they don’t know is that Jungkook is still helping him figure things out. As they head up a hill to the observatory the camper slows down and the staff has to tell Taehyung to slow his driving down.

Over the radio, Yoongi tells Jungkook that Jin is complaining. They tease them about driving so slowly and Jin jokingly offers to drive for them. So they stop the SUV and he opens the door, making the camper team think he was actually serious. But Jin never even took off his seatbelt. Next, Yoongi tells the others that Jin passed out from the mountain air and they all laugh. Even with all of the teasing, they’re happy to see the sights.

Even though it’s cold out, they stop to take pictures of the view from the top of the hill. Their silliness hasn’t faded away though and Jimin nearly messes up Hobi’s shot by jumping in the air. They calm down after looking at the beautiful New Zealand landscape for a bit.

While the others head inside to warm up, Hoseok teaches the maknae line the CNS challenge. They barely manage to film any of their videos without cracking up, and Hobi watches them with a mixture of pride and laughter. Namjoon jokingly does the dance too as they come towards the observatory again, but refuses to actually film anything.

 

With all the members inside, they enjoy warm drinks as they wait for the sky to get completely dark. Once the night sky is pitch black they head outside again to look at the milky way and their reactions are priceless. They’re all blown away at the sight of all the stars. They end the viewing with a new version of their song about the stars.

 

Their last drive of the night is to their new accommodations, which leaves them all confused over the code the Bon Voyage staff gives them for the gate. Jimin can’t stop his giggles even as it seems Taehyung is the only one who knows the code right. They still manage to get inside the gate and start to unload all their stuff again for the night.

A look at the rooms reveals they have bunk beds and one room with a big bed, but we’ll have to wait until next time on Bon Voyage to see how they split it up!

Episode 2 – November 28 (Rescheduled) 

BTS ‘Bon Voyage’ season 4, episode 2: Nature is so precious

        BTS Bon Voyage season 4, episode 2, “Youth through the Eyes of BTS,” had the members enjoying their first meals in New Zealand, car karaoke, taking in the sights, and getting used to the cold!

        Bon Voyage season 4, episode 2, “Youth through the Eyes of BTS,” picks up with the members on their way to go have lunch, but first they have to drive there with the camper and the SUV. While Jungkook and Jin take turn as the first drivers, the other members are able to relax a little bit more. Jimin and Hoseok are quick to take the chance to get in more selcas together.

When they arrive at the store, a whole new challenge arises and they realize finding a spot for the camper takes a little more time. After trying to park in one spot, Hobi redirects Jungkook to another spot before they’re finally able to get out. Meanwhile, Jin is able to park without trouble.

Since the members don’t plan on eating at restaurants too often during the trip, Yoongi tells the others that they should eat a lot. They decide to order various things from the menu and share it all together. The end up ordering Korean fried chicken, fish and chips, carbonara, chicken salad, and steak and eggs for their meals.

As soon as the food arrives, the members are quick to dive into the food. Barely giving Hobi time to capture how great the food looks on camera before it’s bitten into. Jungkook even drops a bite of fish into his drink because he’s trying to eat so quickly. It’s still nice to see the members enjoying a meal together and filling their bellies up after a long trip.

After they’re all done eating, they head to the sport supply store to get some clothes for camping. Some of the members want to pick up jackets while others need shoes for when they go hiking. Possibly the cutest part is when Jimin and Jungkook can’t figure out how to wear the headband properly and have to ask Yoongi to show them.

Kook asks Yoongi to buy him a few things, and even though his hyung tries to convince him he can just borrow his headband and gloves, it looks like he gives in and buys them anyways. Jimin agrees to buy a few things for Hobi and Taehyung as well, only to realize he can’t find his wallet. He had it in his hand when he walked in and has to retrace his steps to find it. Luckily, it doesn’t take long before he finds it where he’d put it down while trying on a jacket!

When the members pile back into the camper and SUV, they start to play around with the radios which are meant to help them communicate about the trip. Jimin decides to compliment Yoongi’s voice though, which makes the others in the camper giggle. They think it’s hilarious that Yoongi doesn’t respond, but they don’t know that it didn’t go through. So when he teases Yoongi about ignoring him, the SUV team just gets confused. And then they just keep messing up trying to respond to each other, especially when Namjoon tries.

Their next stop is to the grocery store where they can pick up all the Korean food that they want. Taehyung laments that he didn’t need to pack Ramyeon after all as they have plenty of options at the store. Jin and Yoongi focus on getting ingredients they’ll need for cooking, while Hobi leads in getting toiletries, and Namjoon picks out a ton of snacks for the group. As they check out, they wonder if they went a little overboard.

As the others finish checking out, Jungkook and Jin head outside to start packing the food into the camper. But when Jungkook takes a break to tie up his hair, Jin can’t help bother him, wanting a chance to play with Kook’s luscious locks. Jungkook has to run away to get his hair up before anyone can get to him. Once the others come out of the store, they’re amused to see Jungkook’s new style.

They have a bit of a drive ahead of them before they’ll arrive at their next stop. Which means they need to entertain themselves. They use the radios to join in on a group song, before the SUV team starts to sing their own song. We’re treated to Jin, Yoongi, and Namjoon singing a song about a dinosaur. They also keep arguing about Jin setting the pitch too high for the rappers.

Meanwhile, Jimin plays tour guide for the members in the camper. And, Taehyung breaks out into rapping with Hobi, while the SUV team keeps trying to keep up with Jin’s singing, and before the oldest hyung shows off his own rapping skills. They also enjoy the beautiful sights of New Zealand as they drive on.

They finally arrive at the café and are excited to see a heard of sheep next to it. They stop for a while to take pictures of them and with them, admiring the adorable sheep with the views. Before they leave, Taehyung asks if he can go inside the pen and they let him get closer to the sheep. One of the owners even brings over a baby lamb for Jungkook to hold onto, and then we get to see Bangtan’s baby holding another baby.

Once they’re all done playing with the sheep, the members head into the café to order some hot drinks and relax for a bit. Jin is sleepy from all the driving they’ve done so far, so Yoongi agrees to drive for them next. While they drink up, Hobi heads outside with the producers to film his CNS challenge with the New Zealand view.

The others are ready to get going but first Taehyung wants to try and do the CNS challenge. He simply watches the video that Hobi already shot and then does the challenge for himself in the cutest way possible. Even though the others complain that they took too long filming, they still want to watch and admire the challenge.

As promised, Yoongi takes over driving the SUV for Jin. He has to get used driving on the opposite side of the road and the changes in the vehicle because of that. They also drive on a single lane road for the first time but it goes smoothly. They’re sad to learn of fires in the mountains as they take in the sights.

The Bon Voyage crew asks them to make a stop early and surprises them with a view by the water. The sun is starting to go down which makes the weather even cooler. But that doesn’t stop the members from wanting to play in the water a bit, using it to freshen up their faces. Jungkook takes it a step farther and wets his whole face and hair using the cold water. While the others pause to take pictures with the pretty scene.

Dogs are outside to greet the members when they arrive at their first accommodations. Night has already fallen, but they can’t help and take time to play with them before heading inside. It seems like the members have fallen for the dogs, and the dogs have fallen for all the attention they get from them because they stick together.

After they’ve checked in, they go to check out the rooms and see that they’re full of bunk beds. Even though the rooms are basically the same, they still want to take turns picking out their rooms/beds after picking pieces of paper to decide what order they’ll go in. Jungkook, Namjoon, and Yoongi end up in one room while Jin, Jimin, Taehyung, and Hobi end up in the other.

When they head outside to get their bags, they also take a moment to admire the night sky full of stars. After changing into their pajamas, the members dug into the buffet for dinner, eating beside the warm fire inside the inn with the dogs by their side. They also make some Ramyeon from their own stash along with some Kimchi they bought at the store.

By the time they’re all done eating, the members are exhausted from the long day, and they can barely even muster up enough energy to do their new Bon Voyage chant. Jungkook still has enough energy left to play with the dogs though, making the others laugh.

Before bed, they share a drink together and toast to their trip together in New Zealand. They talk about going for a morning walk together the next day, but they wonder if they’ll all actually wake up. And they cutely talk about how nice it is to be together again. Jimin tells them that he’s the most comfortable when he’s with his members, they feel like home. Yoongi agrees this is the most comfortable Bon Voyage trip they’ve been on.

They take one last shot together, do their new chant, and then head off to bed!

In the morning, Jungkook is the first to rise in the morning and heads out into the mountainside by himself. Much to the bafflement of the camera crew who has no idea what he’s doing and tries to figure it out. Eventually, Jungkook comes back down with a chunk of snow in his hands. It’s not really clear why he wanted to go up and get some snow but he shows it off to the others as they wake. Taehyung makes Jungkook pose for a picture with his chunk of snow.

Jimin heads into the camper to bundle up in his winter gear while Taehyung keeps busy playing with the dogs again. When Jimin heads off to get a little exercise in, he doesn’t realize that his camera is off almost the entire time. Meanwhile, Jin starts to have breakfast but he’s barely awake.

After his walk, Jimin heads inside to see that they’re still waiting on some of the older ones to finish washing up. They wonder if they’ll even have time to go out together that morning as they wait. Namjoon and Jin finish up their breakfast anyways. Yoongi finally comes out but he wants to wait to eat until after their walk. Unfortunately, they still have to wait for Hobi who takes another twenty minutes getting ready.
